Portugal – Sunday in Lisbon

Landing in Lisbon on the first Sunday of the month ended up being not such a bad thing. Other than the crowds who were also taking advantage of the free entry to museums and monuments. What’s a queue when you’re saving Euros for other expenditure?

Today was overcast and forecast rain stayed largely at bay. The wind, however, was our constant outdoor companion.

Jeronimos Monastery is the home of the tomb of Vasco da Gama, poets and national heroes.

The line for the Tower of Belem was long. It was backs to the wind and hold on.

The wait was worth it, though. and the sun came out just as we were arriving for the view from this 16th Century fortress.
